The congressional representatives from West Virginia have passed by a bill for celebrating centennial anniversary of Mother's Day. They want to celebrate the Mother's Day by minting a dedicatory coin. Rep. David McKinley has introduced this concept of minting a coin on centennial anniversary of Mother's Day and it will begin in the year 2014.
The origin of Mother's Day took place in Grafton in Taylor County where an individual called Anna Jarvis grieved over death of her mother. Afterwards, President Woodrow Wilson signed a Proclamation in the year 1914 for creating a Day especially for Mothers. This is the reason why Mother's Day would complete hundred years in 2014.
McKinley says that minting of coin is just a small step for making mothers across the world special. He welcomes everyone to share their experiences how their mother helped in becoming a better person. Other benefit of these commemorative coins is money earned through their sales would be given for the welfare of the Cure and the National Osteoporosis Foundation.
The legislation has been passed in the House but approval from Senate is still awaited. Representatives are awaiting Senate for voting the resolution and honoring celebration of hundredth anniversary of Mother's Day.
Undoubtedly, every day is Mother's Day but dedicating one special day to mothers around the world is a way to express our gratitude and love. The McKinley bill has been co-sponsored by Capito and it is expected to bring in a new trend not only in West Virginia but also all over the world.
